Requests for 5/11

Please pray . . .

  • with praise for Melinda Botkin’ successful surgery!  Please keep praying as she recovers.
  • give praise for Carolyn Wvrona’s son, Scott, who is a new Christian.  Pray as he works through multiple issues in his life.
  • Pray for the Dias-Pons family.  This came in from Tom Martin – Just about 15 minutes ago, I received a telephone call from Betty Diaz-Pons, Rodolfo’s mother and she was crying and upset and told me that Bro. Diaz-Pons, our pastor at Riverbend Baptist Church in St. Louis and his family were all in a terrible automobile accident this afternoon on their way home from their daughter, Bethany’s graduation in Lynchburg, VA From what Betty understood they were on Highway 80 (probably the Ohio Turnpike) near Cleveland,  and a car just came across and smashed right into them.  Peggy and Bethany had all ready left in an ambulance and Rodolfo and the boys were getting ready to leave the scene in one.  All are alive and hopefully not too seriously injured, but the van was totaled.  Betty was all alone in Sheperd.  She was concerned but did not want me to come over.  I prayed with her on the phone and started trying to call some of our pastors and then decided to send out this email asking all to pray immediately and earnestly for the family.  I will try to let you know when I get a report.

Mid-Week Updates and Requests

Tom Martin (our associational director of missions) sent the following requests along.  i thought they were appropriate to post -

  • I have a couple of prayer requests that I want to share with you and ask you to pray about.  NoReena Eagle (Pastor George Eagle’s wife) is having surgery tomorrow to remove a big toe on one of her feet because of being a diabetic.  She has had a lot of problems with this and her surgery will be tomorrow morning (Friday, March 28) at 7:30am at the Clare Hospital.  Please remember NoReena and also Bro. George during the surgery and recovery. Bro. George is the pastor at Isabella in Mt. Pleasant.
  • Also, many of you know Tom and Eva Richards who attends Standish Baptist Church.  Eva is also a diabetic and she has been in the ICU at Bay Med Hospital this week with heart problems and kidney problems.  She will have to have dialysis 3 times a week from now on.  They have been a faithful part of our associational work for at least 25 years or longer.  I know they would appreciate your prayers as well.
  • Today, I had to go back and see the surgeon that did my surgeries last year because I had developed an infection in and around the surgery on my stomach and the doctors have pulled me off the chemo for at least 7 days and put me on an antibiotic.  The doctors feel that the very strong chemo has been responsible for the infection.  I would appreciate your prayers as well.

Request Update (3/11)

Sharon Hessling will be coming home from the field to be with her mom, Lillian Lapp, who is still in the hospital with cancer. She has already had procedure on her lungs. The family is hoping that she will be well enough to leave the hospital. They think she may be going home to be with the Lord soon and she would like to be at home when it happens.

Pray not only for Sharon’s mom – encouragement and continued faith in God’s sovereignty and goodness; for healing, either in this life or the next. Pray also for Sharon and her six siblings as they travel in to be with her. Pray that will will rest in God during this time as well.

Pray also for NoReena – Pastor George Eagle’s wife.  she continues to struggle in her health.  Here is an update from an email -

NoReena’s news from the Dr. was not good. She has no blood flow in her left leg. They have installed a pic lineand she is getting a heavy dose of antibiotics. She has an appointment with a vascular surgeon on Wednesday. We are hoping that they will be able to restore the blood flow and that they can save as much of her foot as possible. We really covet an interest in your prayers as she goes through this process.
